  • Skeadas carries on family's golf legacy

    When you're a Savannahian named John Skeadas, golf excellence is expected.

    And John Skeadas III is well on his way to raising the standard set by his father and grandfather.

    The recent Savannah Country Day graduate was the medalist in four of his team's eight events this season, including the Class A state championship, and is the Savannah Morning News' All-Greater Savannah Golf Player of the Year

    A 2008 first-team selection, Skeadas edged Savannah Christian's Andy Atkins, South Effingham's Blaine Bunch and Richmond Hill's Tyler Steptoe for the award. Skeadas struggled early in the year but his second-place finish at the Region 3-A tournament and his 4-under-par 68 in the state championship match clinched the honor.
